Elastocon manufactures a range of ageing ovens for high precision ageing of rubbers and plastics under controlled conditions. All ovens meet most ISO and ASTM standards for testing of rubber and plastic materials.

The ovens are designed to give very low temperature variations in time and space, low or high air speed and controlled air exchange rate. Good control of temperature, air speed and air exchange rate have been shown to be very important to achieve good repeatability and reproducibility when doing heat ageing tests of polymer materials.

Research done in Sweden shows that the air speed is a very important factor, influencing the ageing results by increased evaporation of softeners and antioxidants and by increased oxidation at higher air speeds. Elastocon ageing ovens have a low air speed, dependent of the air exchange rate only, or specified high air speed (1 m/s) to allow tests to be performed
investigating the influence of air speed.

plastic. Our specialties are ageing tests, estimation of lifetime and testing of low temperature properties on rubber materials.

We have been accredited for 15 rubber testing methods, ISO 17025 – SWEDAC. The purpose of accreditation is to ensure that certification, inspection and testing is done with high quality and safety for life, health and environment. Accreditation means that inspections are performed impartial, accurate and based on internationally recognized standards.”

Precision Cure Measurement Solutions for R&D, QA/QC and Manufacturing

Organisations working on new thermosets or new thermoset formulations need an intimate understanding of how these materials cure before they can proceed to the next step in the research, quality control, or production process.

  • What happens when the material is heated?
  • When is the best time to apply pressure to squeeze out voids?
  • How fast does the material react at 120C? 150C? 180C?

Most organisations today address this need by curing a sample for an arbitrary amount of time before using inexact, error-prone manual methods, or complex thermal analytical instruments to test cure state.
